Skegness Academy is delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Inclusive Attendance Silver Award, recognising our continued commitment to developing a culture where every child feels valued, supported and encouraged to attend school every day.
The award builds on the Academy’s success in achieving the Bronze Award in September 2025, demonstrating the significant progress made over the past year in embedding inclusive attendance practices and strengthening support for students and families.
The Inclusive Attendance Standard is a nationally recognised accreditation programme that celebrates schools demonstrating excellence in attendance practice through sustained whole-school improvement, strong relationships and a culture of belonging. Schools progress through Bronze, Silver, Gold and beyond by evidencing the impact of their attendance strategies and their commitment to continuous improvement.
The Skegness Academy is located in a rural and coastal community with significant levels of deprivation and understands that many young people and families face considerable barriers to regular school attendance. The Academy's dedicated attendance team works closely with students, parents, carers and external agencies to identify challenges early, build positive relationships and provide tailored support that helps students access education consistently.
Through a whole-school approach, staff across the Academy recognise that good attendance is about far more than statistics. It is about ensuring that every student feels safe, welcomed, supported and connected to school life.
Mrs Sarah Ferrier, Senior Assistant Principal and strategic lead for attendance, said: "We are incredibly proud to have achieved the Inclusive Attendance Silver Award so soon after receiving Bronze. This recognition reflects the unwavering dedication of our attendance team, pastoral staff, teachers and support staff, who work tirelessly every day to remove barriers and help our students succeed. As a school serving a rural and coastal community, we know that attendance challenges can often be complex. Our focus is always on building strong, trusting relationships with families and creating an environment where every child feels they belong. This award recognises the commitment of our entire school community to ensuring that every day truly counts." Skegness Academy achieves Inclusive Attendance Silver Award
