The Skegness Academy has been awarded the prestigious Best Practice with Teaching Assistants Award, recognising its exceptional commitment to inclusion and student support.

The Best Practice with Teaching Assistants Award provides a nationally recognised framework for schools to strategically manage and develop their teaching assistants. It focuses on clear systems of induction, appraisal, and professional development, ensuring teaching assistants are empowered to play key roles in student achievement. The award highlights excellence in:

  • Recognising expertise and nurturing specialist skills.
  • Supporting classroom intervention with tailored planning and collaboration.
  • Developing CPD opportunities aligned with student needs and school priorities.
  • Creating induction policies and appraisals to strengthen confidence and impact.

By achieving this award, the Skegness Academy has demonstrated its commitment to valuing teaching assistants as integral to student success and inclusion. Senior Assistant Principal and SENDCo, Mrs Coates Metheringham said, “We are thrilled to receive this award. It reflects the dedication and professionalism of our teaching assistants and SEND Team, who make a real difference every day in supporting our students.”
