We’re immensely proud of our CEO, Wayne Norrie, who has been awarded an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to education.

I’m honoured to receive an OBE. I would like to thank my amazing colleagues across our Trust who work so hard to make life better for the children and the communities we are proud to serve. I am very lucky to work with such an incredible team and without them, I wouldn't have been recognised in this way. There is one special person to thank for the opportunities in life that I've had: my Mum. It is because of my wonderful Mum, who worked so hard to make ends meet when I was young, that I grew up feeling loved, secure and happy. I learnt a great deal from my Mum about kindness, loyalty and never giving up - lessons which have stayed with me for life. This award is dedicated to her.

Wayne Norrie, CEO of Greenwood Academies Trust

Wayne believes in teachers and in the power of education to change lives, and he acts on these beliefs every day. He’s unwavering in his support for children and families.  He’s a brilliant leader who, as well as transforming Greenwood Academies Trust, has consistently and tirelessly championed inclusion and equity in the education system. We're really delighted that Wayne's work has received national recognition through this honour, which we think is thoroughly well deserved.
