School Direct

Our School Direct places for September 2020 are closing and just a handful remain!  Places for September 2021 will be listed soon and applications will open in October 2020.

We are looking for future teachers from all walks of life who are as diverse and vibrant as the communities we serve. Train to become a teacher with the Greenwood Academies Trust and benefit from a tailored package of support and development from outstanding, experienced teachers and tutors.

In conjunction with our accredited providers, The Cambridge Partnership, Bishop Grosseteste University, Nottingham Trent University, and the University of Nottingham, we are offering School Direct training places to start in September 2021. Based in one of our academies, trainees will study for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Masters credits, and a QTS award.

Since 2013 we have successfully trained more than 140 teachers through School Direct, with many former trainees now in positions of leadership.

Trainees attend lectures and seminars with the accredited provider typically one day a week, with the rest of the time spent in the academy.  You will be assigned an academy-based Subject Mentor and Professional Tutor who will meet with you on a weekly basis to provide ongoing guidance and support.

A contrasting placement in a second setting is undertaken during the Spring term. This will provide a broader view of educational issues and experiences.
