Principal Designate appointed for Purple Oaks Academy

We are delighted to announce that Sarah Martin has been appointed as Principal Designate appointed for Purple Oaks Academy.

Currently Sarah is Deputy Head teacher at the Corley Centre, a Secondary Special School for students with complex social and communication difficulties, she leads on Progress and Attainment. The vast majority of students have a diagnosis of autism. She has been in this role since May 2014.

She is passionate about effective teaching and learning and believes that every student deserves to receive outstanding learning and teaching experiences. In her own practice she has been consistently judged outstanding within Teaching over Time judgements and strives to lead by example demonstrating the practice that she expects of others. She has driven the improvement of teaching and learning at Corley Centre so that 100% of teaching is now judged as at least good and 50% of that is outstanding. This has led to students making outstanding progress. She has been at the school since 2010 in the roles of Assistant Headteacher and Acting Deputy Director. Prior to her roles at Corley Centre she was Acting Deputy Headteacher at Stretton Church of England Primary School and previous to that a SENCo within a larger than average mainstream primary school.

Sarah said: "I am delighted to have been appointed as the Principal of Purple Oaks Academy. This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be involved in the creation of a brand new school in brand new, purpose built accommodation. I am very much looking forward to welcoming the first cohort of pupils and their families this September and working with them to shape the future of this new academy.”
