Nethergate School Joins our Trust

On 1 May 2017, the Nethergate School in Clifton will join the Greenwood Academies Trust. The academy, which caters for 112 pupils aged five to 19 with learning difficulties and complex needs, will continue to operate from the existing buildings under the leadership of Principal, Mrs Tracey Ydlibi.

Wayne Norrie, Chief Executive of the Trust, said: "One of the Trust’s priorities for growth is to explore projects that support our aim of being a fully inclusive 3 to 19 organisation and so we are delighted to welcome the Nethergate Academy into our group. We are committed to ensuring that all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities, can access the outstanding education and learning opportunities they deserve. Nethergate has a superb, highly skilled and dedicated staff team who we are confident will be a huge asset to our group.”

Tracey Ydlibi, Principal, said: “We are very much looking forward to being part of the Greenwood Academies Trust and working alongside the academies in the group, particularly the City of Peterborough Academy Special School and the Purple Oaks Academy when it opens in September 2017. To have three special schools within the Trust will be a huge benefit to the other academies that have SEND and for pupils who are perhaps finding it difficult to ‘fit in’ to a mainstream school. As a ‘good’ academy we have plenty of best practice examples and will welcome the opportunity to share our experience and expertise with other academies within the Trust that have pupils with SEND.”

The addition of Nethergate Academy takes the total number of open academies sponsored by the Trust to 32.
